Fort William, Highland - A Place Suitable For Adventurous Trips

Fort William is the largest town in the highlands of Scotland. This beautiful town lies on the mouth of two rivers namely Nevis and Lochy. World famous Charles Kennedy from the Liberal Democratic Party was educated in this town.

If you want to reach it by train, you have service from Glasgow via Crianlarich. You can also avail the sleep service from London Euston but you will miss the spectacular views if you travel during the night time.

The main tourist attraction to this town is hill walking and climbing. You will find many adventure activities to do here. This town is also famous for the Downhill Mountain Bike Track which attracts many tourists worldwide every year. Many competitors and fans from various parts of the world attend the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. So, when you are visiting Fort William - Highland during this season, make sure you had booked your accommodation well in advance.

The clan Cameron Museum exhibits Bonnie Prince Charlie's Refuge, Jacobite Artefacts, Clan & Regimental History and commando mementoes which makes it a sure worthy place to visit. This is 10 miles away from Fort William. If you want to enjoy the breathtaking peaks and the spectacular waterfall then visit Glencoe and Dalness.

The steep sided mountains are where the tourists end their dream by climbing and walking on the lovely mountain. Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary is situated 24 miles away from Fort Willam-Highland. This sanctuary takes care of sea animals that were rescued and is home to several sick, injured and even orphaned seals every year.

Even though there are many other attractions nearby one should not miss the Torosay Castle & Gardens situated 32 miles away from the town. This Castle is a Victorian family home which is surrounded by 12 Acres of breath taking gardens.
