Zambia - Africa's Last Eden

Along with many other African countries such as Botswana, Gabon, South Africa, The Gambia and Tanzania, this English-speaking republic, is a new paradise on the continent of Africa. Foreign tourists, particularly from Britain, Europe, and South Africa, are showing interest in Zambia's national parks -- home to much of the nation's biodiversity -- and nature refuges.

Victoria Falls - An Expert's Guide to Zambia's Most Popular Safari Destination

Zambia's Victoria Falls is a grand feature along River Zambia, the country's largest river. Locally known as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya, the falls is 1708 meters wide and is recognized as the world's largest water curtain. The magnificent falls produces deafening roars and forms a thick blanket of mist as millions of litres of water flow down its cliff.

The rainy season is not an ideal time for visiting Victoria Falls as the mist becomes so thick making it hard to view the falls. Equally not ideal is the peak of the dry season because the falls gets too dull. The dry summer season between July and August is the best time to explore the falls. Although most people prefer to view Victoria Falls from the ground so they can feel water sprays on their faces, a helicopter ride or a bird's-eye view is recommended.

Victoria Falls Bridge is situated close by the falls. The magnificent bridge that joins Zambia and Zimbabwe offers fascinating views of the Zambezi and the nearby dense forest. Another interesting activity in this area is Bunjee jumping. Interestingly, Victoria Falls is the world's longest bunjee distance - covering some 111 metres in length.<<more>>
